This in-fill residence was constructed on Hearst Avenue, near Monterey Road in San Francisco. The soils in this area consist of deep dune sand deposits, which are relatively soft. Drilled pier foundations were excavated to depths on the order of 16 to 18 feet below the surface. The unit has a lower level garage and basement. With this unit, as in several projects we've performed the foundation systems are often complex and require particular attention to detail.
